Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, on an official visit to Berlin, met several global leaders to discuss trade, investment, and cooperation opportunities.
In a post on social media platform X, Minister Goyal said he was delighted to meet Valdis Dombrovskis,
EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, over lunch. They discussed the significant progress in the India–EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations and reaffirmed their commitment to resolving outstanding issues for a balanced and mutually beneficial trade deal.
The minister also met René Obermann, chairman of Airbus, who expressed confidence in India’s growth story. They discussed strengthening Airbus’ partnership with India by leveraging the country’s engineering and technological talent, forward-looking policy initiatives, and improved ‘Ease of Doing Business’.
The Union Minister further met Bernard Mensah, President of International for Bank of America, to discuss deepening India–US financial cooperation, expanding investment, and building investor confidence through ongoing reforms and a conducive business environment.
Minister Goyal also met Morten Wierod, CEO of ABB Group, to highlight India’s rapid progress in manufacturing, infrastructure, and clean energy, and explore opportunities for the group to deepen its partnership using its engineering and digitalization expertise.
