4 people, including two Home Guards, were killed, and at least 30 others injured in clashes that broke out between two groups in Haryana yesterday. The clash started during a religious procession in Haryana’s Nuh, adjoining Gurugram. The Home Guards were shot dead as a mob tried to stop the religious procession in Nuh’s Khedla Mod, throwing stones and setting cars on fire. A 26-year-old man was killed late last night after a mob attacked a mosque in Gurugram as the violence spread to the neighbouring district, while the identity of the fourth man who died in the violence is yet to be ascertained, Police said.
Haryana Police have registered about 20 cases and detained more than 20 people in connection with the communal violence. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and other leaders have appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony. Government has ordered to closed the school and colleges in Gurugram and Faridabad today.
