Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani released the W20 communique at the third and final W20 engagement group today. Speaking at the meeting, the Minister said that the W-20 team had done a marvelous job in including all the voices of women around the world in the communique. She said that the delegates from all the G-20 countries have done their best to contribute of the communique.
The Minister said that climate change exposes women and children to uncomfortable situations. She said the gender digital divide should take forward the conversation on gender code technology for discussion. She urged that basic bias in language which disenfranchises poor and tribal communities should be addressed.
The Minister told that the care economy services segment will bring additional 300 million jobs for women. She said, decades have been spent on women empowerment, but still a lot needs to be achieved and the time has come for the transition to women-led development. W 20 should be future-ready, she said.
